News from the December 2009 Meeting
  • Gary Blackman thanked the work party for helping install new rubber on the indoor range.
  • Anyone interested in becoming a certified instructor in rifle, pistol or shotgun,  classes will be at Cabela's on January 8-9-10 and 16. See Wayne Blank or call him at 734-241-9131.
  • March 20 & 21 Cabela's will have a pro gun weekend.  Wayne LaPierre, VP from the NRA, will be there plus prosecutors and attorneys from both Michigan and Ohio.  Also, concealed carry information for Michigan and Ohio.
  • Gun Show in Monroe this weekend - December 12 & 13. 
  • Major Chris Czech, a member of our club, presented us with a plaque and a US flag that was flown over Iraq
  • Gene Parrish made a new target holder for the indoor range, it's purpose is to spread out or slow down the damage to the rubber. Members please let the board know what you think of it.
  • Dan Lawecki installed more lights and wiring on the indoor range, much brighter. Thanks Dan.
  • Ken Kay won the fifty-fifty raffle for $58.00.
  • Membership readings: 11 second, we now have our membership back to 880.
  • Bill Burpee has club hats, patches, DCM flyer's and NTA applications.
  • 30.06 ammo will be available at  Camp Perry in 2010.
  • Meeting adjourned about 8;30 PM.  Everybody celebrated with chili, bread and butter and liquid refreshments.  A good time was had by all.

News from the November 2009 Meeting
  • After the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country Bill Burpee led the membership in singing the Marine Corps Hymn in celebration of their 234th birthday.
  • A member reported he was hit in the head by a ricochet on the indoor range. Gary Blackman will head up a work party to change the rubber back stop and hope that will cure that problem. Volunteers needed Dec 2 in the evening.
  • March 20 & 21 Cabela's will host an event on gun laws with NRA's Wayne LaPierre and attorneys from Michigan and Ohio.
  • Scott Burns won the fifty-fifty raffle for $27.00. 
  • Gene Parrish was given a round of applause for making racks to hold our folding chairs.
  • NRA support of 2nd amendment-friendly political candidates was discussed.
  • There is to be a cease fire to change targets on the outdoor range no matter what yard line you're on.
  • The board voted to take 20 more new members to bring our membership back up to 880.

    Board Meeting
  • Discussion on: club ammo sold out, gun show returns to Lucas County Rec. Center, up coming news letter, lights, timers, first aid kit, drive way markers, and a wall between the 50 and 100 yard line.
     
  • December Elections 
    December meeting you get to elect new members to run your club for 2010. After election we will have chili and liquid refreshment.
     
News from the October 2009 Meeting
  • The Monday night 22 league will start Oct.26th, the high power league shoots on Sundays and the junior league on Saturday mornings. All welcome new shooters.
  • Wayne Blank thanked the members for supporting the NRA dinner in Monroe.
  • Jan. 8-9-10 Cabela's will have classes to certify instructors for shotgun, rifle and pistol.
  • Gary Blackman announced that Michigan has over 211,000 CCW permits and encouraged new members to join MCRGO. Jim Dunmyer told new members about Ohioans for Concealed Carry. We should all join local organizations.
  • Nov, 7-8 Maumee Valley Gun Collectors will have a show in Woodland Mall in Bowling Green.
  • Santo Omodio won the fifty-fifty raffle for $45.00.

  • The board voted to take 20 more new members to bring our membership back up to 880.

    Election of Officers - Come Out and Vote
  • We will have chili and liquid refreshments for election night.

  • We need new blood, ( younger ).
  • Nominate yourself and tell the membership about yourself and that you want to help the club.
  • We're all volunteers who want to keep the club going.
 
News from the September 2009 Meeting
  • Wayne Blank announced that the Seconded Amendment workshop at Cabela's on August 29th was a success and another one is planned for March 2010
  • High power league will start Sept. 20th.
  • Junior league will start Oct. 3rd.
  • Membership readings for 30 new members
  • Bob Kay won the fifty-fifty raffle for $30.00 and donated it back to the club.
  • We don't want members that burn up rounds. This club was founded for accuracy. Also, paper targets only.
  • The security system is up and running.
  • The board members can't recognize 850 members so we might want a passport photo with your 2010 dues
 
News from the August 2009 Meeting
  • August 29th at Cabela's: Free information on firearms laws, state, federal and county.
  • September 12th:  NRA dinner in Monroe. See Gary Blackman 734.847.0489 Cell 419.304.8117 for tickets and information. NRA is the only organization on our side.
  • The security company is still fine tuning the cameras.  A tower is installed and testing positions.
  • The fluorescent spotlights on the indoor range have been installed. After a few minutes they are nice and bright.
  • The board voted to take 50 new members in September and 50 in October.  At that time the board will vote if they want to add more.
  • Five foot of dirt has been added to the East and West berms and the 50 yard back stop.  Everyone agrees it looks good
  • The 100 yard line needs new 4X4's to attach target frames to. Call Bill Burpee 419.473.8982 if you want to help.
  • Next meeting the board is planning to have an insurance sales person in the lobby to give information to members with CCW permits
  • Ron Rudolph won the fifty-fifty raffle for $12.00

News from the July 2009 Meeting
  • Dump trucks are bringing in dirt, when you see a truck stop shooting and make your firearm safe until the truck leaves
  • August 29th at Cabela's: 2nd floor, many rooms of information on firearms laws, including state, county and federal.
  • Visit the MCRGO booth at the Monroe County Fair August 2nd to 8th
  • National Matches have started at Camp Perry and will run until August 19th.
  • Paul Badas won the fifty-fifty raffle for $23.00.
  • The indoor spotlights will be changed from incandescent to fluorescent
  • The board voted to update your security system. More cameras and a DVD recorder.

News from the June 2009 Meeting
  • So far, this year 563 members have paid their dues
  • Wayne Blank announced that August 29 & 30 Cabela's will have an NRA weekend with round table discussions and people to answer all gun related questions.
  • September 12, Friends of the NRA will have a dinner in Monroe. See Gary Blackman for info and tickets ( 734-847-0489 )
  • A member is organizing a once a year members only club shoot, indoor, outdoor, rifle and pistol. It will take some time to get this together.
  • The board voted to install two more security cameras.
  • The two permanent shooting benches at station 1 & 2 on the 100 yard line will be scraped.
  • About 35 members present at June meeting. 
 
News from the May 2009 Meeting
  • Indoor range has a new row of lights.
  • Gun show at Lucas County Rec. Center on May 16&17.
  • You can legally carry in National Parks if that state has carry permits.
  • Members are forgetting to sign in.
  • Our drive way gate is to heavy for some members.
  • Dan Lawecki won the fifty-fifty and donated 54.00 to the junior league.
  • Four motions were made seconded and passed by vote.
  • (1) To try and find a maintance man among our membership.
    (2) To spend $5,175.00 to have dirt hulled in and raise our outdoor backstop and berms. (our club will be shut down for a short duration.)
    (3) To have our electrician change the indoor flood lights so they won't burn out any more timers.
    (4) After a long discussion the board voted unanimously to suspend all canceled carry classes at our club.
  • General discussion: about bank statements, Internet, fresh air make up unit.
    About 64 members present, board meeting adjourned at 9;15 PM.
 

News from the April 2009 Meeting

  • We are undecided as to the cleaning of the fresh air make up and furnace filters. If no volunteers then we will have to pay for it.
  • Still getting quotes on dirt for out door range.
  • There will be an NRA dinner September 12th. See Gary Blackman or Wayne Blank. They also need volunteers to help with a TV Sportsman's show in Monroe once a month to run cameras and help with the MCRGO booth at the Monroe County Fair.
  • Monroe Rod and Gun Club will have a 22 fun shoot May 2nd.
  • The board voted to make Raymond Faylor a life member. He has paid his dues since 1957.
  • We got a thank you letter for the NRA in honor of Rolland Hutchinson.
  • General discussion: indoor lights, security cameras, increasing attendance at monthly meetings, raffles, work parties, and CCW instructors using our club.



News from the February 2009 Meeting

General discussion:
  • Wayne Blank announced that there will be basic pistol classes at Cabelas' in May and June.
  • There will be a public welcome meeting on March 28th at Cabelas'  to learn and ask questions about concealed pistol license laws and updates.
  • Monroe County Clubs are trying to get participants to form leagues and shoot 22's at different gun clubs. Starting with Monroe Rod and Gun Club. See Wayne for more details.
  • Luther Ishik won the fifty-fifty raffle for $12.00 and donated $10.00 to the junior league.
  • General discussions about furnace and filters; Putting a canopy over half of the 100 yard line; New rules for Concealed Carry Instructors; Rapid fire; More lights on the indoor range; Wiring all lights to the new ventilation system so all members would have to use it. This would keep the indoor range cleaner and the furnace filter would not have to be changed so often.

  • Still waiting for more estimates to raise the East and West berms and fifty yard backstop by five foot.
 
 
News from the January 2009 Meeting
General discussion:
  • 5 out of 18 board members had perfect attendance for 2008. Joe Dusseau, Bob Matthews, Dan Wiederhold, Jerry Nastachowski and Ron Rudolph.
  • Membership had a discussion on high gas bill, insurance and guests.
  • Gun Show at Monroe fairgrounds Jan. 18&19. Maumee Valley at Rec. Center Feb. 21&22.
  • Membership is capped at 878 till Aug.2009.
Board Meeting:
  • Two motions were made seconded and passed by vote
    (1) To pay real-estate taxes for $2,307.21 for half year
    (2) To get fire place sealed and bricked shut for no more than $250.00.
  • First estimate on raising the East and West berm and 50 yard backstop 5 feet higher came back a little over $7000.00.
  • We are trying to get volunteers for a indoor work party at noon on Saturday, for minor repairs. If you can help out call Ron Rudolph 419-475-2446.
  • Also we need a volunteer to change furnace filters on a schedule.
